Now we are nearing the end of the school year, the end of Middle School, the end of easy decisions. Right now we are talking through a pretty big decision she needs to make. It isn't a make or break decision or one that is overwhelmingly important, but it will definitely affect school, friends, and her interactions with adults. I'm not exactly sure how to guide her.
I am definitely not a driven parent who demands certain levels of success from my kids. I also wouldn't describe Chad and I as too laid back or apathetic. So far, I feel like we've struck a pretty good balance. As Esther and I talked today, I was able to assure her of my love no matter what conclusion she comes to, that I didn't care if she became the most famous circus clown in all the land... as long as she loves God and loves people I will be proud and happy. (She laughed about being a clown and said she didn't think she was on that path.) But, it really is true. I don't know if there is a right or wrong concerning this decision, but there are difficulties either way.
Proverbs 20:24 A man's [8th grade girl's] steps are directed by the Lord. How than can anyone understand his own way?
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Driving right pass the girl guarding her. :) |
I don't know for sure, but this shot was probably a total swish. ;) |
