Personalized etched mugs for my brothers, sisters-in-law, and nephews turned out to be a great gift idea!
I bought these great mugs at the 99 Cent Store. Chad and I (yes, Chad enjoys helping with projects like this) used stickers for the names and taped off a rectangle to make it clean.
The goo we used is called Glass Etching Cream. On the link it says that she spent $40 for her bottle. My suggestion to her is to shop around a little better. I got my bottle at Michaels. It was only $12 and thanks to Emily's great suggestion, I printed a 40% off coupon.
And here is the finished product:

This is actually reason number 67 why I shouldn't be a craft blogger. I never took a final picture. I could lie and say I didn't want to post a final picture of their gifts before Christmas. But, the honest answer is my un-craftiness extends all the way to not taking the final pictures. Now that's funny. But you can get the gist with this example. Maybe I can stretch my crafting capacity and make fancy etched glasses like this one. Or maybe I should just stick with sticker letters to make words. |
But do you want to know who is crafty in my house?
They asked if they could make giant snowflakes. Being the amazing mom that I am, I replied, "Yeah, whatever, knock yourself out."
They had a great system. Carah did something.
And then Morgan did something.
When they showed me the final result I was entirely impressed! I had no idea they were going to make such cool snowflakes. They ended up making five (at my request) and I hung them on the wall in our dining room. I'm so thankful they love to create!
I will definitely keep making gifts, but will never call myself crafty. It's just too much pressure.
What about you? What have you made, baked, or created for gifts this year?

Love the snowflakes!!!
I've wondered about the glass frost stuff. Did you peel off the names after you were done? Must have an after pic!!!!!!
It was so simple. The directions said to be careful or your skin would burn off. Yikes. So I rinsed the glasses under warm water and the stickers pealed right off. It was so easy. I know, I know. Sorry about the lack of photos. If you click on the Pinterest link and look at the blog you can get an idea of what they look like when they are finished.
Those snowflakes are pretty outta-this-world!! I'm impressed with your craftiness, but SUPER impressed with those snowflakes. :)
The snowflakes are AWESOME! I made jeweled ornaments one year...they turned out pretty good. But, I usually just bake my spicy pumpkin bread and cherry-chocolate chiparoons every year for the grownups. After the first couple of years they expect and love it!
This post totally made me smile!
I love pinterest too but I haven't made anything from it yet. Although we have helped some people with livelihood using ideas from it. What great gifts you've come up with and the snowflakes are wonderful too! A blessed Christmas to you and your family! May Jesus' love and joy surround you! Patsy from

awesome, what a fun project!
good grief, you sure are fancy.
Yes, I'm addicted to pinterest . . . and will be using some ideas for our christmas party. I wish I was making some cool 99 cent gifts instead of pulling my hair out at the mall today. You did better!
I have to know how to make those snowflakes! So cool. Tutorial, please??
What a great idea with the glasses. May have to try that.
Oh, I love that idea! They look great. I'm with you. I'm not crafty, but I like creating something unique every once in a while.
Thanks for sharing the 'how to' for the glasses! They are soooo cool! You know that daddy and I want one too, right?!? ...hint hint!! and the snowflakes are fantastic....I love creative gifts from your heart! :) xoxo
LOVE the title of this post! So something I would say :)
Great crafts! Before baby #2, I worked with autistic kids at a school, we use to make those snowflakes to decorate our classroom ~ finally taught my kids how to make them this year :) I admit, I have not been too crafty this Christmas. Spending time off the computer, just enjoying each others company... movie nights, baking, and games. Very fun! I guess I did make a jewelry holder out of a frame for a $5-10 gift exchange for the mom's group I co-lead. But, that's as crafty as it got this year. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
