This week I had the privilege of watching Morgan review her memory verses without me reminding her. She had her packet out and methodically went through her verses. She has enough memorized that it takes her awhile to review. She spent time in her own sweet little world enjoying the quiet of remembering parts of the Bible she has implanted in her heart. I loved it!
One of the reasons I enjoy summer with my family is because time is set aside daily for scripture memory and review. The kids and I get out our packs, review, and learn new verses. I'm already looking forward to that time together. Have you thought about teaching your kids a system of learning scripture? If they can talk, they can memorize verses with your help. If they can read, they can memorize verse with your promptings. What better gift to give your kids than a heart full of God's word?
Right now I'm continuing on is Psalm 95. My memory is hit or miss right now. Sometimes I feel like my brain is so stuffed full that I don't feel like I can squeeze one more thing in. I wish I could tell you it is full of wonderful and glorious content, but that would be a lie. I am realizing that memorizing scripture isn't as easy for me as it used to be. I must be at that age. Excuses, excuses.
Psalm 95:6-7
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord, our God, our Maker!
For He is our God,
and we are the people of His pasture,
and the sheep of His hand.
In college we sang a worship song that had these verses in it. I can't help but to sing it every time I read these words. "Just the she-e-e-ep of His ha-a-a-and. Just the she-e-ep of His hand." I'll have to get over my cheesiness as I memorize these two.
What are you memorizing, friends? We are four months in. How is it going? Are you still going strong? Have you struggled in consistency? How are you seeing God's word as living and active in your life?
Praying that each of you are filled with power out of His glorious riches through the Holy Spirit in your inner beings!

Oh goodness I too learned that song when I was young, and I've sung it to my kids since they were tiny. Such a sweet song.
I'm learning Isaiah 50:4-5 right now with more to be added.
The Lord God has given me the tongue of disciples that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens me morning by morning. He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple. And I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back.
Still going strong...I'm starting a few short passages in Corinthians this time. Starting with 1 Cor 1:26
"Brothers think of what you were before you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were influential, not many were of noble birth."
I continue on in 1 Peter 1 with verses 20-21.
He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
I also want to add Psalm 73:25-26 ESV.
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Here are my two verses since I completely forgot to post on the first
Romans 6:22-23
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God the fruit you receive leads to sanctification and it's end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord!
Ezekiel 36:26- I love this verse that we went over last week
And I will give you a new new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh
Kelsi
I am finally jumping back in scripture memory. I am working on Psalm 130.
Back and better than ever...possibly.
From the fruit of a man's mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Proverbs 18:20-21
I have definitely been struggling with consistency in memorizing. But God has been faithful in giving me scripture that applies to the details of my life, and remind me to focus on Him. I am memorizing Isaiah 43:20-21.
"The wild beasts will honor me,
the jackals and the ostriches,
for I give water in the wilderness,
rivers in the desert,
to give drink to my chosen people,
the people whom I formed for myself
that they might declare my praise."
I really enjoyed alternative worship a couple of weeks ago and the verse in Ezekiel 36:26 -
"And I will give you a new heart and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
this week is amazing consistent with the trend in material i've been reading and studying and wrestling with. i can't get into specifics, but i'd LOVE prayer regarding discernment and how to move forward in relationships motivated by (and ONLY by) scripture and great great selfless love.
"when i was a child, i spoke like a child. i thought like a child. when i became an (adult/woman) i gave up childish ways. - 1 corinthians 13:11
I have not been a very good memorizer this last month, that's the truth! But I did pick up again in Philippians 2, starting with
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:1-4
I have not officially memorized the following yet, but it has been recurring to me often in the past couple weeks, so I think memorizing it would be a good idea:
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness."
And when I read the chapter, I also found the following beautiful verse:
Jeremiah 31:9
They will come with weeping; they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead them beside streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son.
I can't believe I'm so late to post. Humbly, I have to say that I can't post new verses this half-month, instead need to buckle down with the new verses I have, and review old ones. Still working on vs 8 and 9 of 1 Chronicles 16....
Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
Deuteronomy 32:3-4
For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God! The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
Sorry for the delay!
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Please forgive my delay...
1Thessalonians 4:5-6
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were with salt, so that you know how you should respond to each person.
I admit I haven't been as diligent and disciplined in scripture memory for the past month and a half, but I do continue to seek verses that I can turn to during times of need. Lately, I've been needing to rely on God's truth in trusting who HE is as a Father, Maker, friend, and sovereign Lord.
Psalm 9:10 (ESV) "And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."
Psalm 33:21 (ESV) "For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name."
Continuing with Proverbs 31: 16-17
She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
She dresses herself with strength
and makes her arms strong.
I'll hopefully be better about posting these once our church here is done going through "The Story". We're on Chapter 30, so we're close.
I'm still continuing on with Colossians 3...
Colossians 3: 12-13
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other, as the Lord has forgiving you, so you also must forgive.
