I don't have any fancy words about memorizing scripture for you today. My encouragement for you is to stick with it. My hope is that you are growing in this discipline and that you don't need this blog post to remind you to do business.
To keep saying the same thing over and over seems silly, however, memorizing new things is still very challenging for me at this point. I mostly have Colossians 2:6-7 down if I look at the first couple of words. I'm going to keep working on it. I pretend it is good therapy for my brain to review my old verses and work to learn new ones.
Even though it is humbling for me, I'm not going to add a new one just yet. Thanks for continuing to pray for my brain as it heals and my heart as I wait.
I can't wait to read what you are learning! The way you faithfully add His word to your heart and mind encourages me so very much.
Please post what you are memorizing so we can all celebrate with you!

I am continuing on in Romans 12 with vs 4-5. NIV.
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
The words of Titus 3:3 have remained with me since the retreat...
"For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another."
The phrases that have really struck me here: "For we ourselves were once foolish..." and "hated by others and hating one another..." As I encounter various life situations, these phrases come to mind. This verse is both a source of compassion and humility for others without Christ and for the reality of my own journey, what I have been (and am continually) rescued from.
Ok I am back to try to live with discipline.I am memorizing scripture from a Beth Moore study that I am doing right now.
I raise me eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth.

I'm going to go back and memorize the second passage I meant to last month:
"The Lord your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing."
-Zephaniah 3:17
I"m working on Psalm 123:2 "behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he has mercy upon us."
I was off the wagon for a little while but I'm getting back on track again, memorizing Matthew 11:12 as a reminder and motivator that it is forceful men and women who lay hold of the Kingdom, not passive men and women.
"From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. "
I'm back...and I'm late.
Lamentations 3:25-26 NIV
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord .

i have a selection of verses up from 1 cor 12 & 13. look at them daily. aiming to get them deep in me.
and i think the longer it takes for us to get it memorized the better- we chew on it more, absorb each word more into our souls.
thanks for the encouragement to keep at it today.
I am memorizing Proverbs 16:18
Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
A little late, but I've been working on it already: Romans 14:17, esv
For the kingdom of heaven is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
"She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." (Proverbs 31:26)
